Awards to Celebrate BC Aboriginal Business Achievements
VANCOUVER - British Columbia's Aboriginal business sector will be celebrated in the second annual BC Aboriginal Business Awards announced today by Premier Gordon Campbell and Keith Mitchell, chair of the BC Achievement Foundation.
"The British Columbia Aboriginal Business Awards showcase the continuing positive impact Aboriginal business has on British Columbia's economic development while helping to encourage future business opportunities," said Premier Campbell.
Jacob Beaton, the 2009 Youth Entrepreneur of the Year and president of CopperMoon Communications Inc. has offered his support to the 2010 awards program and stated "To be part of last year's award ceremony was truly an honour and a privilege. The Youth Entrepreneur Award has helped my business expand and, as the first recipient, I know it will help inspire future entrepreneurs as well."
The BC Aboriginal Business Awards honour business acumen in the following categories; Youth Entrepreneur (Male and Female), Joint Venture, Community-Owned and Business of the Year awards for one-to-two person enterprises, two-to-10 person enterprises, and 10- person or more enterprises.
An independent jury of business experts reviews the nominations and selects the award recipients, who will be honoured at a Gala Event in late fall.
"I encourage all Aboriginal business people in British Columbia to consider entering these awards," said George Abbott, Minister of Aboriginal Relations and Reconciliation. "From small, home-based businesses to large joint ventures to community-owned enterprises, these awards will recognize and celebrate their achievements."
The BC Aboriginal Business Awards are generously sponsored by founding sponsor BC Hydro, Encana and the Ministry of Aboriginal Relations and Reconciliation.
Further information and submission forms are posted at www.bcachievement.com. The deadline for nominations is Sept. 15, 2010.
