Thirty-Nine British Columbians receive 2005 BC Community Achievement Awards

Community Achievment Awards
The recipients of the 2005 British Columbia Community Achievement Awards were recognized today by the Honourable Iona Campagnolo, Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia, and the Honourable Gordon Campbell, Premier of British Columbia in a formal presentation ceremony at Government House.

MLA's, civic leaders, nominators, friends and family from around BC witnessed the inaugural presentation of these Awards which were launched in 2003 by the British Columbia Achievement Foundation, a Foundation established by the Government of British Columbia to recognize and celebrate B.C.'s spirit of excellence.

"They are dedicated individuals who share the most valuable of today's commodities; time and compassion," said Mitchell. "They do whatever needs to get done - from sitting on boards and committees to far exceeding their job descriptions to sharing their talents of music or fundraising, cleaning up the environment or protecting the province's heritage. What they all have in common is a passion for the people and places where they live and a strong commitment to making a difference."
