2006 British Columbia Award for Achievement by a Community

2006 British Columbia Award for Achievement by a Community

British Columbia Award for Achievement by a Community On April 20th, Premier Gordon Campbell presented the inaugural British Columbia Award for Achievement by a Community to Hartley Bay.

'In recognition of its extraordinary efforts on March 22, 2006 in rescuing the survivors of the Queen of the North at Gil Island in Wright Sound. From the Hartley Bay residents who answered the calls of distress to those that welcomed the survivors to their community and looked after their needs, this award recognizes their selfless and generous acts of heroism and kindness. As the protector of the waters around, Hartley Bay is a true maritime community.'

The Board of the BC Achievement Foundation has established this new award to honour communities for extraordinary acts or service. The Board is proud to honour Hartley Bay with the inaugural and looks forward to recognizing other outstanding communities in the years to come.
